Veterans Employment & Education Awards
Every year at its national convention, The American Legion’s National Veterans Employment & Education Commission acknowledges various organizations and individuals for their commitment to veteran employment. These honors are given to those who demonstrate outstanding efforts in hiring veterans, including those with disabilities and older veterans. The recognition also extends to those instrumental in aiding veterans in their job search.
The awards are categorized as follows:
- Employer of the Year Awards, which are divided into three subcategories based on business size: Small, Mid-Sized, and Large.
- Employer of the Disabled Award.
- Employer of Older Workers Award.
- Local Veterans Employment Representative of the Year.
- Outstanding Disabled Veteran Outreach Program Specialist of the Year.
- Outstanding Employment Service Office of the Year.
- Michael Guty Homeless Veterans Outreach Award.
To nominate an individual or organization for these awards, nomination forms can be obtained from Department headquarters or through the national website. Each nomination must include an official form, a narrative of no more than two pages, and any relevant supporting documentation.
