Payment may be made by check or credit/debit card.

Rooms start at {rate} per night plus taxes & fees. Parking is {rate} per day with in/out privileges. 

An update on the 2024 National Convention in New Orleans, Louisiana, August 23-29. 

The Hilton Riverside will serve as HQ’s for Legion/SAL/ALA.   

A few items to place on your calendars:    As always, refer to the website at www.legion.org/convention for all current information.    By August 1, the Mobile App should be ready.  

  1. Color Guard Competition:  4:00PM, Friday, August 23, Hall D, Convention Center

While we have not received any applications yet, we know a few Color Guards will be participating.  Reminder of getting those applications into us though by the due date of July 23.

  1. Competitive Concert Band Contest and Exhibition Concert Band performance:  1:00PM, Saturday, August 24, The New Orleans Theater, Convention Center

We have FIVE bands competing!   Definitely will be an excellent contest- be sure to attend!

  1. Patriotic Memorial Service: 11:00AM,  Sunday, August 25, Hall D, Convention Center
  1. New Orleans Saints Pre-Season Football Game: 1:00PM, Sunday, August 25

For those not attending a Subcommittee meeting or other required event, perhaps a little football.    New Orleans Saints take on the Tennessee Titans at the Ceasars Superdome Stadium. Discounted ticketing information forthcoming.  

  1. American Legion Family Night at the Museum:  6:00-9:00PM, Sunday, August 25

A private event at The National World War II Museum for The American Legion Family.   The Victory Belles along with Department of Minnesota’s 9th District Band will take center stage for entertainment.   

Discounted tickets on sale now for our private event at $15!!    

Gift shop, restaurants, concessions outlets and most attractions will be open and available.   Explore all seven immersive pavilions.    Second day tickets are available for purchase; theater experiences open during regular business hours.  

Transportation is on own to/from.     Off-site transportation information was previously communicated.  

  1. American Legion General Sessions: Tuesday- Thursday, August 27-29, Hall D, Convention Center

Houston Bernard, U.S. Army veteran, served nine years, will provide Opening Ceremonies.   

Being a Presidential Election year, both candidates are invited, along with other political figures/ speakers.    As we progress, updates will be provided.     

  1. National Commander’s Banquet:  Tuesday, August 27, The Great Hall, Convention Center

Local Jazz /80s flair cover band, Bayou Royals will take the stage for entertainment.  

Tickets are still available at $65.00 each.   Make checks payable to The American Legion AND send to the Convention & Meetings Office:

Tables are Rounds of 8.  Once received, will confirm receipt.    If you don’t hear from us, then we did not receive.

  1. Please check the website often for updated information regarding notable items, events, schedule, Medical Services letter, etc for New Orleans at www.legion.org/convention.      A current Calendar of Events has been posted.    A final schedule will be sent in August along with a Know Before You Go.
  1. Deputy Director, Andrea Watson, will be on maternity leave starting, Friday, June 14 with a tentative return in early September.    Please send all communication to conventiondivision@legion.org and a team member will assist.     We wish Andrea all the best with her new bundle of joy.  

We are confident our American Legion Family members will enjoy the events planned thus far as well as the business sessions of The American Legion and other aspects of our 105th National Convention.
