Grand Coulee Post 157 has started a campaign to raise funds for two of our current EMTs who are going through training to become Paramedics. As of right now, Grand Coulee does not have any paramedics on the department. It would be very beneficial to have paramedics on the service, as they can start treatments that EMTs can’t. Currently, they are volunteers for our area ambulance service. As part of their training, they are required to work shifts on the ambulance services in Moses Lake (for one) and Wenatchee (for the other one).

They both have successfully passed the first portion of their training. The second phase has started, and they will be finished in about June 2026. The reason we are trying to raise funds to assist them, is the cost is $13,000 for each one of them. They are currently having to use credit cards to cover their costs. The training is through Central Washington University in Ellensburg. Their clinicals  are in the Tri Cities and Spokane. All of their travel is in addition to their tuition.

Our post set up an account and funded it with $4,000. We have spoken to several of the community organizations, who have also made a commitment to give money to the fund.

If anyone would like to assist these two in their endeavors, donations can be made at STCU (Spokane Teachers Credit Union) to the Mike Shear and Merlee Liberty Benefit Fund. No amount is too small, and all donations are greatly appreciated.
